This is one of the flights that we were extremely excited about since it is the first time I am flying Singapore Airline and their First Class product. Unfortunately, we did want to try the Suite Class but Singapore no longer operates its Suite Class (A380) on this route, making JFK-FRA the only route with Suite Class from the United States. This route is now serviced by a fully updated 777-300ER. I haven’t seen to much if any reviews on this route since the change from Suites to First Class so hopefully this will be useful for those that want to know a bit more.

Check-In for departure is on the 4th Fl at the terminal. When we arrived at the check in counter we were immediately greeted by our names, so that means that the other 2 passenger in the cabin already arrived before us.
Upon receiving our boarding pass we were directed to the Star Alliance Gold Track which was pretty much a priority security area that had no wait at all for Star Alliance Gold, First Class or Business Class flyers. After we went through the first check point, we had to wait for a custom exit which did not have any priority lines available. The second check point did take approximately 20 minutes to get through for us at around 4pm on a Sunday.

Since we had time after the customs, we decided to check out the ANA Suite Lounge which we had access to through our flight. The lounge was very well kept and very quiet and relaxing.
There was a decent amount of drink options from liquor, wine, champagne to …
Beer (Machine!).
In the back of the lounge there is a made-to-order hot food section.
They also had a good amount of choices in the cold food area.
Approximately 5 minutes prior to the start of boarding time, one of the staff in the lounge walked over and addressed us by our names and alerted us that check-in is starting soon for our flight. Our gate was conveniently located right downstairs from the lounge.
Upon Boarding, our flight attendant and some of the crew immediately greeted us by our names and showed us to our seats as well as checking in our coats. The cabin itself has a total of 4 seats. The seats were very spacious and comfortable and also had a very upscale feel to them.
Shortly after, she handed us our Salvatore Ferragamo amenity kits and pajamas.
She then came back to take our pre-departure drink order, as well as our dinner order and asked if we wanted any newspapers or magazines.
The choice of Dom Perignon and Krug had me struggling but I ended up with the Dom.

Our flight was unfortunately delayed for 20 minutes so our flight attendant came back and asked me if I wanted a second Dom which I gladly accepted.
Finally we had departed Narita Airport. Within about 30 minutes or so from takeoff, preparation for the first meal service began. I opted for the Western menu whilst Michelle opted for the Japanese Kaiseki menu.
We were both served Satay Chicken and Beef to start our meals which was really good.
My course began with Chilled Malossol Caviar in which our flight attendant recommended Krug to go with since I liked champagne.
It was then followed by a Corn Chowder with Bacon which was pretty ordinary.
Then the main course arrived which was Wagyu steak. The steak was seasoned and cooked well but it wasn’t enough to make a statement. (However, I did wish that I ordered from their pre-boarding menu instead of their regional on-board menu. They had some pretty interesting items that I might’ve preferred instead).
I pretty much ended my meal with this as I had so much food that I could not have dessert anymore. Our flight attendant seemed disappointed that I opted out of the dessert.
Michelle’s meal started with Yuzu Tofu, Yuzu Pepper Sauce and Salmon roe. Nabana Leaves, Bean Curd Skin and Steamed Sea Urchin with Dashi-San. Scallop and Prawn with Ponzu Vinegar on the top. Boiled Flounder, Roasted Salmon with Creamy Yuzu Dressing at the bottom.
Then came the Udon Noodle.
Followed by Braised Pork.
Then Red Snapper and Gratinated Lobster.
And finally came her dessert.
Michelle definitely had the better meal of the two. After our meal, the attendant asked if we wanted to have any hot beverage and whether or not we wanted our bed to be made. I opted to have my bed made and went into the bathroom to change into the pajamas while they work on my bed.
The bathroom was a bit on the smaller side but it was stashed with a good amount of toiletries.
Upon getting into bed our flight attendant told me that Brunch meal service is in 6 hours and asked if I wanted to be woken up for that which I opted for.
The flight had a good amount of turbulence for about 30-45 minutes midflight which threw off all my sleep as I had woken up from it. But thanks to their great In Flight Entertainment and Bose noise cancelling headphones, I was kept occupied the rest of the way.
Soon after it was time for brunch, I opted for the Japanese Kaiseki meal whilst Michelle took the Western meal.
My meal started out with Salmon and cucumber in Egg Yolk dressing, Simmered Herring and Eggplant, Rolled Omellete with Crabmeat and Mistuba, Fermented Pink Shrimp with Koji and Beancurd with Kinome Miso.
Then came the main course which was Grilled Spanish Mackerel (Sawara) with Yuzu Miso Simmered Wagyu Beef with Butter-Soy Sauce. Simmered Taro, Gluten, Carrot, Greens and Bamboo Shoot. With assorted pickles, steamed rice and miso soup on the side. I opted out of desert again.
Michelle’s meal came with Serrano Ham with Pineapple and Foie Gras to start.
Then came the rice with grill salted salmon and salmon roe.
And Green Tea Creme Brulee.
As we are under one hour away from landing our flight attendant invited us to look outside the plane at the snowy mountain tops which I really appreciated. She also made us laugh throughout the flight and was very interactive. I can say that she definitely had made our flight enjoyable. I was disappointed I did not get to fly suites, but this experience definitely made me want to try Singapore Airlines on a different route again.
