We arrived early to Hong Kong International for our departure. At the check in counter, the agent asked us whether we wanted our luggages wrapped which we kindly declined. We were pointed to the direction of the gate as well as being told where the Delta Sky Lounge is after we go through customs. Since we were early, we actually had time to check out the Delta Sky Lounge which is free to access for anyone who is flying First or Business on a Skyteam Alliance flight or lounge membership.

The check in to the lounge was quick and we were told that flights will not be announced to passengers in the lounge and that we have to pay attention to the time of flights departing. The lounge was kept relatively clean considering that it was pretty crowded for an airport lounge.
There is a noodle bar where you pick your ingredients and the noodle is made for you with a fish broth. Congee was also served at this station. Other than that the food spread was pretty standard.

There were also some self-served hot breakfast buffet, and pastry as well as alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.
We left the lounge 15 minutes prior to gate time for our flight.
Airline: Korean Air
Flight Number: KE 604
Seat: 2A & 2D
Depature: 12:35pm
Arrival: 5:00pm
Boarding at the gate was quick and orderly. First and Prestige (Business) boarded first follow by the economy cabins.
Upon boarding the flight, we were greeted by our name by the flight attendant. We were luckily the only 2 passenger of 8 seats in the first class cabin on this flight.

Non-alcoholic departure drinks were served promptly, with warm nuts in a glass bowl.
The seat itself was their first version of the Kosmo Suites which is a non-enclosed suite. It converts to a fully lay down seat. The seat itself is very comfortable but the aqua color that is used on the seat is a love/hate thing. Slippers and blanket were provided but no amenity kit as this is considered a short-haul flight. However, standard amenities such as tooth brush, tooth paste, and other bathroom necessity are available in the bathroom.
Shortly after take-off, our flight attendant came to take our drink and meal orders. It was slightly disappointing that Korean Air does not print flight specific drink menus or menus for specific times as we were told what was and what wasn’t available at ordering.
After the flight attendant put in our order, she returned with table cloth and other accessories and started preparing our table for our meal and served our meal.

Upon finishing our meal, she asked us whether we would like anything else which we didn’t so she cleared our table for us.
I managed to get an hour or so of sleep into the flight while Michelle was kept entertained by their inflight entertainment system which had limited options. About 15 minutes before landing, I was gently awakened by the flight attendant telling me to prepare for landing.
Overall, I would say that for a short-haul flight this definitely beats anything that an US based Airline can offer in first class. While our flight attendant delivered exceptional service to us, there are a few things that were disappointing that wasn’t the human factor such as the lack of choices on the entertainment system and the not personalized menu. However, I will still fly this route again if I can.
