Want to eat where a lot of everyday Hong Konger’s have their meals? Try out Mui Kee in Mong Kok! Although, the Singapore store front is much nicer, the Hong Kong location inside Fa Yuen Street Market provides a much more local feel to the experience. The bottom floors of the market are full with open style meat, veggie and seafood vendors while the top floor has multiple food stalls.
Mui Kee is known for serving great old school congee mostly a breakfast type of food. However, you can have it anytime. You can have your congee with slice beef, meatballs, fish or other things such as innards. The congee is cooked to perfection which just the right amount of flavor and texture. You can taste the wok hei in the congee. And with the high heat cooking it, everything tossed in there just explodes its natural flavor into the congee, making it amazing. The congee goes great with fried dough and soy sauce fried noodle. The meal itself is extremely affordable and will leave you satisfied.
